Luciana Bellini, 29, married Jamie Blackwell, 27, at Agios Sostis church, followed by a reception at Villa Ammoudi, both Mykonos, on 4th June 2016. She says:

My mother is Greek and my happiest childhood memories are from the country, so we were always planning to get married there. We chose the villa because our wedding was quite small - we had only invited 50 guests and wanted it to feel as private as possible.

We picked food that was traditionally Greek but with a twist. We opted for family-style starters: prawn risotto, salads and octopus carpaccio, and for mains we served lamb noisettes and monkfish.

Our main favours were boxes with vials of herbs (oregano and lemon balm) and a sachet of summer tea for guests to take away. We also had the traditional favours of sugared almonds in a white muslin bag, tied with a leather bracelet with the Greek 'evil eye' motif on it.

We chose a mixture of bright pinks and oranges for the flowers, and pale turquoise for all the tablecloths, the bridesmaid dresses and wedding invitations. Without even doing it consciously, they all ended up matching.

My top tip: Little hiccups on the day can be a good thing - our officiant had terrible feedback on her microphone at the start of the ceremony, but it ended up breaking the ice and making everyone laugh.
