The now-legendary Brides the Show returns for 2018, on 21st-23rd September. With a new venue (at London’s Olympia) and a new look, this is one seriously important date for your diary. Every year, we bring the magazine to life in a jam-packed, inspirational weekend designed to help you achieve the day of your dreams.
Hosted by the Brides team, Brides The Show is a stylish showcase of the best exhibitors in the industry, plus tons of fun features. Grab a glass of fizz at the Moët & Chandon bar before taking a seat at our stunning catwalk – or, if you’ve booked a VIP ticket, hang out in our VIP Lounge in association with gift-list experts The Wedding Shop. Buy your rings or maids’ gifts at Links of London (and get them engraved, for free!), create pretty DIY details in the Imagination Room, listen to one of our expert talks, or try a unique masterclass. Or simply wander around, marvelling at the visual spectacular created by our genius dressing partners at Palmbrokers and GreatHire. Before you know it, you’ll have your gown, flowers, stationery, cake and decor sorted, because we’ve got the best in the business, all in one beautifully styled location. Here’s more about what we’re excited to show you at the show.
Friday 21st September: 12pm – 6pm
Saturday 22nd – 23rd September: 10am – 5pm
1. Hear from the industry’s leading (and royal-approved) experts
Not only will there be exciting, hands-on workshops to try in the Imagination Room, but for 2018 we also have some expert speakers who want to talk to you about your big day. Take a look at the line-up so far (psst, a lot of these guys were involved in Harry and Meghan’s wedding. Yep, we’re impressed, too).
- Super-florist Philippa Craddock, AKA the magician behind the flowers at the royal wedding
- Videographer to the stars Andrew Gemmell talks you through how to get the best wedding film of all time (no A-list guests required!)
- Designers Suzannah and Lisa Redman, who dressed some of the chicest guests on the 19th May, will be talking big-day style
2. See your bridal fantasies come to life at the catwalk show
For the seventh Show running, our fashion director, Bryony Toogood, is pulling together our stunning catwalk, creating a fantastical ‘Dreamland’ space where fairytale, fun and fashion go hand in hand. Here, expect ethereal decor as standard: breathtaking floristry, delicate laser-cut paper work, oversized blossom clouds and towering trees, balloons and butterflies, ribbons, rainbows and fairies. Oh, and the wedding dresses to match, of course – be it a floor-sweeping number, princess style, simple shift or form-fitting fishtail. All of the gowns have been specially chosen and styled by Bryony herself, so you’re guaranteed a showcase of up-to-the-minute designs by some of the hottest names in the industry. Plus, our exclusive fragrance sponsor, Estée Lauder, will be scenting the catwalk – just to make it all even dreamier. You need to book a place to see our catwalk, so hurry – tickets for this spectacular sell out fast!
3. Find your bridal beauty look with our catwalk stylists
Get ready – this is the place to see 2019’s bridal beauty trends. Our models’ hair will be styled once again by the brilliant team at Michael Van Clarke. You can meet the stylists and let them talk you through the runway creations, tell you all about their bespoke hair and make-up packages and, of course, give you tips on creating your own big-day look.
4. Discover the latest bridal fragrance with a unique, sensory journey
For the first time ever, we’re proud to announce a unique feature at the Show in 2018 – a glorious scenting experience in partnership with Estée Lauder. To celebrate the launch of the brand’s new signature scent, Beautiful Belle (out in September), we’re creating an incredible sensory journey for our readers with the notes of Beautiful Belle – pear blossom, orange and mimosa. You’ll be able to touch, smell and see the inspiration behind the fragrance, and it all takes place amongst a live flower wall created by Jamie Aston, where you can hear expert talks about scenting your wedding. Plus, you’ll get the chance to taste an exclusive cocktail made using ingredients from Beautiful Belle. Trust us, you’re in for a treat…
5. Be inspired at our expert panel discussion
Join Brides Editor, Jade Beer, as she speaks on a panel with these top influencers:
Josie Fear, AKA FashionMumblr
Josie, who got engaged last year, is a lifestyle blogger, photographer and entrepreneur who knows fashion (she worked in the industry). In May, with Sophie Van Bick, she launched Be My Bride, a go-to site for wedding-planning millennials.
A photographer by trade, Victoria has worked with some of the biggest brand names in the business and visited some of the prettiest corners of the world (that’s your honeymoon inspo sorted, then).
The former right-hand woman to designer Matthew Williamson, Rosanna got married this year in a colourful spring do. Hear her talk about wedding planning and, specifically, that dress – created for her by Matthew himself.
The top model and Platforms and Pushchairs blogger hosted her very own boho wedding this summer. She's written for Brides online about how she designed her wedding dress, her pre-wedding beauty rituals, as well as her non-traditional approach to wedding planning. And now she can tell you how it all came together for her beautiful big day by the sea.
6. Get creative in our DIY wedding workshops
Head to The Imagination Room and you’re halfway to creating the look for your dream day. Picture a creative hub where experts from the DIY industry (and Brides!) will provide an immersive experience to help you design all those little details for your reception. Previous workshops have included: flower crowns, calligraphy, gin cocktails, terrarium centrepieces, floral favours, couture cakes and even millinery!
7. Treat yourself to a £180 goodie bag
Pick up your bag and you’ll discover luxe goodies such as a full-sized candle from The White Company, worth £20, a Neal’s Yard body butter worth £23, a £30 Elemis voucher, Benefit BADgal mascara worth £10.50, a Michael Van Clarke volumising mousse worth £12.50, a Spectrum make-up brush worth £15, a Sugar Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy by Fresh at £11 (the same product we know Meghan uses, FYI!) and SO. MUCH. MORE.
8. Contribute to a good cause
Mental-health champion and journalist Bryony Gordon (who works with Heads Together and The Royal Foundation) has just launched her Mental Health Mates campaign as a fund-raising platform, and we are thrilled to be one of its first official supporters. You’ll know Bryony for running the London Marathon in her pants (yes, really!) and as the author of The Wrong Knickers, Mad Girl and Eat, Drink, Run (oh, and serial hugger of Prince Harry). All the profits raised from specific ‘good cause’ features at the Show (plus voluntary donations via ticket sales; tick the box when you buy) will go to the campaign, which organises meet-ups and group walks for people with mental-health problems. The money will go to support these wonderful walk leaders, and also to a select number of charities the company partners with. Find out more at mentalhealthmates.co.uk
9. Learn how to squash that wedding anxiety from Bryony Gordon
Bryony will be at the Show on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd, giving talks on body confidence, anxiety and stress levels in the run-up to your day. She says: ‘I’m super-excited to speak about how to do a wedding minus the anxiety. This is the next chapter of your life, so let’s make it count!’
10. Win a golden tan from Sienna X
Want a golden tan? Well, you might be lucky enough to get the golden ticket! One special goodie bag will have a £500 voucher from Sienna X tucked inside – so if you pick up this one, you and four bridesmaids will receive spray tans from the top brand, plus Sienna X products. Erm, #winning!
