Lady Gaga spent much of this past awards season with her fiancé, Christian Carino, by her side. He was there at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and when she picked up her Golden Globe for the song "Shallow" from A Star Is Born. But by mid-February of this year, the couple had called off their engagement. "It just didn’t work out. Relationships sometimes end,” a source told People at the time. “There’s no long dramatic story.”

Gaga herself has not spoken publicly about the breakup, until now. According to Us Weekly, the singer addressed the split during her Jazz and Piano show on June 2 in Las Vegas. “Last time I sang this song, I had a ring on my finger, so it’ll be different this time,” Gaga said before performing "Someone to Watch Over Me."

Gaga and Carino were pretty low-key about their relationship after first being linked to each other in February of 2017. But last October, the singer referred to Carino as her "fiancé" while speaking at Elle's Women in Hollywood event. (Though their engagement had been rumored since she was spotted wearing a very large diamond ring on her left hand at the 2018 Grammys.) The ring featured a massive pink stone and was estimated to be worth $400,000. "Lady Gaga's spectacular ring appears to be a six to seven carat pink sapphire with a diamond halo, totaling three to four carats. This is likely a high quality, no heat (treatment), pink sapphire," jeweler Andrew Brown told BRIDES in an interview. "It looks like it may be a padparadscha sapphire, in which case this ring would easily retail between $300,000 and $400,000."

No word yet on who kept it in the split—but now that Gaga's speaking out about it more publicly, maybe we'll get some amazing breakup ballads on her next album.
