Nicknamed the Battersea Power Station of the north, Baltic Mill is an imposing sight on the River Tyne.

This Centre for Contemporary Art is as modern and minimal as you'd expect, offering a blank canvas (although even the fanciest decor will struggle to rival the vistas from the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Tyne and Gateshead Millennium bridge). But one thing might distract you - the best-of-British food from the in-house caterers.

An iconic building on the banks of the River Tyne, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art (housed in a former flour mill) is ultra-modern with plenty of white space and light-reflecting glass.

The river terrace - mostly indoors, behind floor-to-ceiling glass - is the prime spot for ceremonies and parties, with views of both the Tyne and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

Alternatively, the gallery-like event space on level one could be the perfect minimalist backdrop to your big day.
