Set behind the pure white sand of Bwejuu, Baraza's location is almost impossible to beat.
Just 30 villas, each with plunge pool, sit among exotic frangipani and jasmine. Opt for a seafront one, so you can glean every last second of the sunshine. Or relax at the pool (complete with underwater music) while being served a trunk-load of all-inclusive drinks and ice cream.
Designed by the Raguz dynasty, the resort is modelled on the palaces of Omani sultans - imagine crisp white buildings with Arabian arches, studded with carved wooden furniture, gilt, gold mirrors and brass lanterns. Then hotfoot it to the Dhahabu Bar at 5pm every evening and grab yourself one of the barazas (banquettes) to perch on before ordering some of the best cocktails the island has to offer.
WOW FACTOR The seemingly never-ending beach, even if walking the length of it may feel too much like hard work.

Set behind the white beach of Bwejuu, Baraza's location on the east coast of Zanzibar is hard to beat.
Designed by the Raguz dynasty, the resort is styled on the palaces of Omani sultans - white buildings with Arabic-style archways are filled with bespoke, locally carved wooden furniture, gilt mirrors and brass lanterns.
The numerous barazas (banquettes) for guests to sit on at the Dhahabu Bar and around the resort give it an opulent yet relaxed air, and the 30 villas, all with their own plunge pool, are set among bougainvillea, frangipani and jasmine.
Opt for a seafront one to soak up the rays on the beach or relax at the main pool (with underwater music) while being served a bevy of all-inclusive cocktails, ice creams and treats.
WOW FACTOR: The beach seems to go on forever - ideal for long romantic walks.
FLIGHT TIME: 11 hours.
