Wander into the QMS spa just off Sloane Square and it feels as though your skin starts improving almost immediately. There's that wonderful mix of medical meets pampering with white-on-white décor and spa ladies in lab-like attire. These guys mean business!

And that's exactly what I did. Feeling a little shaky after a long-haul flight from Chile (I'm back in the U.K. planning a certain wedding - turns out some things, like wedding certificates and tea with the vicar, have to be done in person) I headed for some spa time.

Now seemed the perfect time to try out the new QMS pre-wedding treatment. Lying back on the heavenly soft massage bed I began a two-hour treatment. Up first the back treatment - perfect for summer wedding dresses that reveal the back - before an hour-long facial customized to my skin type (currently dehydrated from the plane with extra deep bags under eyes).

Now, sticking to a facial regime is quite hard when planning a Scottish wedding from Chile, but under normal circumstances QMS say you should start your pre-wedding beauty regime three months before The Big Day.

That would mean a skincare consultation followed by once-monthly facials, the last of which would be no later than two weeks before the wedding. I will have to make do with the DIY Activator Mask which takes just ten-minutes and is recommended on your wedding morning so refresh, relax and soothe before all those photos.

The one-hour back treatment began with a double cleansing, followed by exfoliation and steaming to open up my pores. Then came the algi mask, a cooling mask that sets on your back getting rid of any remaining dry or dead skin. Up next is the oxygen boost (QMS is renowned for their Oxygen Facial, which boosts circulation giving you the ultimate glow) and lastly, a massage with their signature Lift-o-Firm body cream.

Time to turn over, and let the facial begin. I was diagnosed with a "Bespoke Facial with Oxygen" which went from cleansing to exfoliation with Liquid Proteins - their product with fruit acids and enzymes - followed by steam, extractions, tone, oxygen boost and finally a massage to get rid of toxins and moisturize.

Treatment over all too soon, I headed out for supper with my in-laws-to-be - this, after a night on the plane, is as good a test as any of the effectiveness of a facial.

"You look so bright," my mother-in-law to be kept saying. I said thank you, pretending it was all in the genes!

So without further ado, I'll leave you to browse the QMS bridal product collection…
