Set in the rolling hills of the Oxfordshire countryside, Thorpe Manor is an understated Georgian treasure. Sympathetically renovated under the direction of its owners, this Grade II* listed property has been granted a new lease of life, while continuing to celebrate its historical links with Oliver Cromwell and horseracing within its walls.
To commemorate the Manor’s new chapter, Jade Beer, editor-in-chief of BRIDES invited a handful of best-selling authors including Adele Parks and Jessica Fellowes, to experience the graceful grandeur of the country manor first hand.
Guests heard about warming wonders of the Manor in bygone times on a private tour before dressing for an elegant dinner with makeup touch ups by Sophie McMullan.
Sat amongst the floral mastery of Tiger by the Tail, guests enjoyed a sumptuous, three-course dinner using the very best, home-grown ingredients, carefully selected by Indulgence Boutique Hospitality.
Mirroring the luscious landscape enveloping the Manor, the menu had a spring-like aesthetic and exquisite taste complemented perfectly by a selection of special wines from Chateau Léoube. While conversation and wine flowed with ease, the air was charged with the aromas of the beautiful Jo Malone fragrances gifted to guests.
After dinner the cinema room became the focus for after dinner entertainment, where guests snuggled down to a film with Cotswolds Gin cocktails that were infused with earthy and floral tasting notes.
The morning after a sound night’s sleep, a grazing breakfast was served in the kitchen, before beauty consultations by Lion/Ne and yoga rounded off this charming escape to the country.
Whether you’re planning a country escape or seeking a blank canvas on which to imprint your wildest wedding wishes, Thorpe Manor is the country house where rural enchantment meets savour-vivre. The mosaic bath in the bridal suite is an unforgettable highlight!
