Savannah, Georgia, is quickly rising to the top of our must-visit list. Few places offer such an irresistible mix of history, charm, and grace. The culinary scene is stellar. Plus, you don’t have to look far to find delightful accommodations and couples-oriented activities. The Hostess City of the South is also defined by its warm hospitality. You can’t walk more than a block without seeing a smiling face. All this adds up to a destination that’s easy to love.

So, it should come as no surprise that over the past two or three years, it has become a popular spot for that last fling before the ring. But fear not, bachelorette brigades have in no way extinguished the flame of romance that continues to burn bright in Georgia’s oldest and most enticing city.

By now, you’re probably pretty sold on Savannah. Having figured as much, we put together a cheat sheet for planning the perfect weekend escape. You’re welcome.

Wander around the historic district

You’ve likely seen photos of moss-laden oak trees, antebellum homes, grand churches, groomed parks, and cobbled squares. This enchanting visual isn’t just confined to a few blocks—the entire historic district is basically a postcard come to life. It’s also super walkable, so pack comfy shoes and prepare to stroll hand in hand with your boo.

Savor a cocktail (or two)

Fancy some spirit-fueled fun? Ghost Coast Distillery should be your first stop. Start with a behind-the-scenes tour, followed by a tasting in the cocktail room. Next, buzz on over to Savannah Bee Company and sample an impressive assortment of mead. Thirsty for more? Head to The Ordinary Pub, where the exposed brick walls, a cool vibe, and stiff drinks are guaranteed to put you in the mood.

Indulge in gourmet delights

Savannah has an incredible culinary scene. So be sure to bring your appetite! Brunch at The Collins Quarter and B. Matthew's Eatery (don’t miss the build-your-own Bloody Mary bar). Atlantic is delicious for dinner. Plus, it doesn’t get much better than date night at Husk Savannah. And just when you think you can’t eat anymore, a cute candy store appears. We dare anyone to resist scratch-made saltwater taffy and pecan caramel clusters.

Take a carriage ride

What better way to woo your sweetie than a horse-drawn carriage ride? The chance to snuggle up and sip bubbly (not to worry, the law permits outdoor consumption of alcoholic beverages) while admiring centuries-old architecture is too good to pass up.

Enjoy a picnic in Forsyth Park

With its grassy fields and shade-giving trees, Forsyth Park looks like a movie set. Lean into the onscreen romance with an afternoon picnic. Packing a basket of scrumptious snacks and, perhaps, a bottle of locally crafted booze is a surefire way to reach heartthrob status.

Get spooked

If seeing a horror flick counts as a great date, then visiting spooky sites in Savannah—which by the way is widely considered to be the most haunted city in America—does too. Embrace paranormal pursuits with an after-dark tour of Sorrel Weed House, a historic landmark and the address of an unsettling murder/suicide. More eerie intrigue awaits at Bonaventure Cemetery, with its famous grave sites and bewitching statues.

Shack up in style

In terms of accommodations, you’ve got quite a few options. There are quaint lodgings like Hamilton-Turner Inn and a slew of historic mansions available for rent. Pairs who prefer a hotel with all the bells and whistles should consider The Alida, which recently opened on Williamson Street. Sun-drenched rooms are decorated with comfy furnishings and local artwork. It also has a tasty restaurant called Rhett and a rooftop with picturesque views.
