Brace yourselves, ladies! Father Of The Bride 3 is in the works - or at least that is what Hollywood journalist Nikki Finke said.

According to her, Steve Martin will return to the screen for the third installment of the very successful Father Of The Bride films - a Brides HQ favourite.

The American actor however had no idea about it: "So excited to read I'm doing Father of the Bride 3 since I haven't seen a script or been offered the role," he tweeted. Fingers crossed he's just pulling our leg…

The twist for the third leg of the Disney and Warner Bros. franchise is, naturally, that there won't be a bride in this film per se. Annie's been married for at least a decade by now, so Matty is the only one left to tie the knot.

Finke revealed that Matty will be marrying the son of a Navy SEAL. Martin's character, lovable dad George Banks is "thunderstruck and speechless" and struggles to cope with his son's coming out. Wife Nina (go Nina!) kicks him out of the house.

Bonkers? Yet another sequel that doesn't need to be made? Possibly, but these films hold a special place in our heart, so here's hoping George does make a comeback...
