This is pretty much what we imagine paradise might look like - the beach is sugar soft, the waters crystal clear, and all the super-luxe villas come complete with private pools.

Built on a rocky outcrop shrouded by giant palms, the resort's 67 treetop villas provide ample distraction from the beautiful Petite Anse beach below, with shady cabanas and an outside dining area.

Away from your treehouse haven, try daily yoga sessions at the hilltop pavilion, go bird-watching, hike through the national park, or visit Victoria, one of the world's smallest capital cities.

It won't be long before you hit the beach though - don't miss the incredible snorkelling with the hotel's reef guide. Foodies are in for a treat, too.

The Seychellois are originally settlers from other countries, and we couldn't get enough of the Creole cuisine (a divine fusion of French, Indian and Asian). Well, it's what kaftans are made for, right?

WOW FACTOR: The hilltop spa has private villas with breathtaking views, and you can take champagne on to the giant roof terrace.

The story goes that the Seychelles are the site of the original Garden of Eden, and there is plenty of modern-day temptation at Four Seasons Seychelles.

The 67 hillside villas have a private pool, huge sunken baths and colonial-style decor. Only the hilltop spa will lure you away for a Child of the Earth signature treatment (150 blissful minutes of locally inspired mini rituals, from hair nourishment to foot treatments using frangipani, cinnamon, coconut and vanilla). Back at sea level you'll find the huge main pool, as well as beachside restaurant Kannel.

Don't miss the desserts, such as pineapple crumble with lime pina colada sorbet. Work off your excesses with one of the activities: an array of watersports as well as trips to Mahé and the surrounding islands.

WOW FACTOR: The beach - it's one of the most beautiful in the Seychelles.
