Now that I'm engaged, I feel I have well and truly entered into the White Zone. Working at Brides HQ, it feels as if I've been balancing on the border of this 'zone' for over four years, but only now do I realise how exciting it is to actually be within. While I've always been on the look-out for the most beautiful reception ideas, prettiest flowers and cute details, I'll be taking my research to a whole new level and hope that in the process of planning my own wedding, I can inspire you even more than before. First off is venues and since I'm getting married in London, I've found a couple of lovely options, of which the front-runner is 10-11 Carlton House Terrace overlooking St James Park. Its central location couldn't be better and I love its elegant Georgian grandeur. If you fancy floating down a sweeping staircase to greet your guests, or hosting your wedding breakfast in a beautifully panelled dining room with period features, then this is for you.

There are plenty of rooms to choose from and depending on the number of guests, my recommendation would be the Music Room (seats 120) or the Council Room (pictured, seats 125) for their grand proportions and plenty of natural light. 10-11 Carlton House Terrace also have a secluded garden square which would make the perfect setting for an outdoor summer drinks reception. The chefs at 10-11 Carlton House Terrace will tailor an uncomplicated but imaginative canapé and/or wedding menu especially for you and they hold an extensive collection of wines so that you can be sure your guests will enjoy the meal as much as the setting. 10-11 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5AH (020 7969 5224; find out more at
