David Bowie and Iman's love story was one to remember. On what would've been the 28th wedding anniversary between the legendary British rocker, who passed away at the age of 69 after an 18-month-long battle with cancer, and his bride, we look back on the couple's love story that began in 1990.

Before Bowie's passing in January 2016, the couple celebrated 23 years of marriage in 2015 and was one of those long standing, very private celebrity couples that you just knew were rock solid. Bowie is widely quoted (though the attribution is nowhere to be found) as saying: "You would think that a rock star being married to a supermodel would be one of the greatest things in the world. It is."

And Iman shared the sentiment with Nate Berkus on his show in 2010, according to the Independent. "My marriage is exactly as fabulous as you all would think," the model said. "He's fun, he's a really very curious man, and so I really learn a lot from him."

Iman also famously told the Guardian in 2014 that she never fell in love with the David Bowie persona. "I fell in love with David Jones," the singer's given name, she said at the time.

Following Bowie's death, the model took to Instagram to pay a touching tribute to her late husband, re-gramming posts from friends who had taken to the platform to wish the singer a happy birthday.

After meeting on a blind date in 1990, the singer and the model tied the knot in Tuscany on April 24th, 1992. For all the fashion between them, Bowie and Iman kept things classic for their big day. Tails for him, and a very '90s halter dress with long gloves for her.

The Ziggy Stardust singer and the cosmetics maven welcomed a daughter, Alexandria, in 2000 and the singer told Hello Magazine at the time. "My attraction to her was immediate and all-encompassing. I couldn't sleep for the excitement of our first date," Bowie said.

"That she would be my wife, in my head, was a done deal. I'd never gone after anything in my life with such passion in all my life. I just knew she was the one."
