Ever since news of the 2018 royal wedding broke, when Prince Charles released a statement on behalf of the couple, all eyes have been on Meghan Markle, her royal appearances, her famous friends, and of course, her style choices.

Having already cemented herself as a style icon that likes to break the rules (like wearing a trouser suit to a royal event - shock horror!), speculation as to what she will wear on her wedding day has run rife.

Between Meghan's coveted style and her knack for breaking royal protocol, this royal wedding dress is bound to be a controversial one. While details are scant, it has been reported Meghan will wear two dresses on the day; one for the ceremony and one of the reception.

In terms of style, Meghan has confessed to loving Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's wedding style. Caroline wore a very simple Narciso Rodriguez white slip dress when she married John F. Kennedy Jr. While we're sure Meghan will have to up the glamour and opulence on the day, we're expecting her to follow suit with a classic yet modern style that's free of embellishment.

But which lucky designer will be responsible for the already famous gown? See our predictions below:

Erdem

The strongest predictions for Meghan Markle's wedding dress have been for a custom design by Canadian and Turkish fashion designer Erdem Moralioglu. Not only does the designer have Canada in common with Meghan, but she's also worn many of his lady-like designs in the past. Our Fashion Director, Bryony Toogood, is also predicting Meghan will wear Erdem. "He's really current, especially with his recent collection for H&M," says Bryony. "His last collection was also heavily influenced by The Queen, specifically a young Queen Elizabeth II, when she met American jazz composer Duke Ellington in 1958. So with his royal familiarity, plus being a Canadian, I think their's a strong likelyhood he'll be designing the royal wedding dress."

Ralph & Russo

The other fashion label that royal insiders are pointing to is Ralph & Russo. Originating from Australia, the London-based label was recently the first British fashion house to be invited to the Paris haute couture shows in a century. Their haute couture collection also featured numerous wedding worthy options including a finale wedding dress that is no doubt worthy of a princess (pictured above).

It addition to their wedding-worthy designs, we also know Meghan is already a fan, having worn one of their designs in her engagement photos. The couture house also has a seven-story salon in Mayfair that overlooks Buckingham Palace, so it's a perfect option for Meghan.

Inbal Dror

According to the Jerusalem Post, Israeli bridal designer, Inbal Dror, was asked to submit a few design sketches by the palace. The designer is famed for his elegant yet sexy aesthetic, counting stars such as Beyonce and Naomi Watts as fans.

Within the three sketches the designer submitted were an A-line design, a full gown with puffed shoulders and a fishtail style.

Roland Mouret

The London based designer is beloved by stars all around the world for his figure hugging dresses. Meghan Markle is no exception, having worn many of his designs and even striking up a friendship with the designer. While Roland isn't a bridal designer, one of his dresses could be perfect for Meghan's reception outfit.

Alexander McQueen

Having previously designed the royal wedding dress for The Duchess of Cambridge, Sarah Burton is naturally a popular prediction for Meghan's dress as well. Considering how Meghan is happy to break tradition, it is likely Meghan will wear a different designer, but considering how opulent Sarah's designs are, we're not 100% ruling it out yet.

Stay tuned for the 19 of May when all will be revealed...
