This week in the name of research, I popped along to the new Peggy Porschen Parlour in Belgravia, London to check out what's on offer for brides-to-be. Peggy is known for her irresistibly pretty cakes that look beautiful and taste delicious. Until now she's only offered a made-to-order service but thankfully with the opening of the Parlour, you can pop by anytime to sample her latest collection of cakes, cupcakes and cookies. This 'pink heaven' with its glass counters of edible treats and cake-inspired gifts is the ideal spot to sneak off to, eat cake and catch up on your wed-min. My sugar rush came from a slice of the lemon Limoncello layer cake, which was light and zingy - the perfect summer wedding choice - but other stand-out flavours were the dark Rich Fruit Cake - for traditionalists - and Chocolate Orange cake - a delicious combination of orange infused sponge and chocolate ganache. What I love is that you can have different cake and fillings for each tier of your wedding cake, and while you try to decide which is your favourite, you can enjoy a cup of one of Peggy's bespoke teas. Once you've been won over by the taste of Peggy's cakes and the dainty setting, book a private appointment with a design consultant to talk through your dream cake. Leaf through Peggy's portfolios of designs for ideas and then come up with something unique to you. You'll be following in the footsteps of style queen, Stella McCartney, who chose a Peggy Porschen cake for her wedding day, and we also hear on the grapevine that Gwyneth and Madonna are also fans.
