When Hailey Pince first met Larry Nance Jr., he wasn’t hitting the court in Cleveland alongside Lebron James. At the time, they were both undergrads at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, and the NBA was still a dream. The pair dated through college, graduation, and the NBA draft, and in the fall of 2015, Hailey joined Larry in L.A., where they set up a home in Redondo Beach and he joined the Lakers. Two years later, in September of 2017, Larry surprised Hailey by blindfolding her, bringing her out to their balcony, and enlisting their two pups to help him propose.

“We wanted our wedding to be very simple and family-centered,” says Hailey. They loved the idea of a beach wedding, and Pinterest led them to the Montage Kapalua Bay in Maui, Hawaii. “We invited our 12 guests to join us on Sunday, then we all had a mini vacation together before the wedding on Tuesday, July 17, 2018,” the bride explains. The couple hired Sara Besharati of The Besharati Group to plan the celebration, and it’s a good thing they did. “Halfway through wedding planning Larry was traded from the Lakers to the Cavaliers, so while we were focused on moving to Cleveland, we left he wedding planning up to Sara.” Inspired by the island’s natural beauty, they embraced a colorful palette of tropical pink, green, and gold, and set about planning an event full of love and laughter. Sanaz Photography is giving us a peek into Larry Nance Jr. and Hailey Pince's vibrant wedding day—so keep reading for all the details!

Peach envelopes (with bold green liners!) were paired with acrylic invitations by Creative Works Designs. An etched garland of tropical foliage and script softened the modern design.

“I went shopping in Denver with my family and in Cleveland with Larry’s family, and couldn’t decide on a dress,” recalls Hailey. “But when we got home to L.A., Larry and I went to JLM together and picked out this Hayley Paige dress. I knew it was the one when I saw his reaction to it!”

The groom donned a custom navy Balani suit, saving his jersey for the court (and a cute photo opp!).

Hailey accented the plunging neckline and floating layers of her gown with a cascading bouquet of pink and peach peonies, ranunculus, garden roses, and greenery.

An arch covered in lush flowers framed the setting's dramatic ocean view. The couple's dozen guest look sat in bamboo folding chairs as Hailey and Larry exchanged vows.

“Hearing Larry recite his vows was my favorite moment," Hailey recalls. "I cried the entire time!”

As the couple finished their vows and shared their first kiss, raindrops began to fall. (Hey, a little rain on your wedding day is good luck, right?!)

A single long table was set beneath a draped canopy. It was topped with a coral linen and a lush garland of peonies, roses, and ranunculus layered in shades of fuchsia, magenta, and peach.

Woven chargers were topped with white dishes and matching coral napkins, while gold flatware and gold-rimmed glasses gave the place settings a touch of shine. “The chargers looked so fantastic with the acrylic menus!” Hailey says. Each guest’s name was laser-cut out of acrylic and set on the napkin to mark their seat.

The dinner menu included a local tomato and burrata salad, braised mushroom risotto, and two Hawaiian specialties: Hawaii Ranchers beef and Kona lobster. For dessert, the couple served a chocolate torte with coconut caramel sauce.

After treating guests to a surprise hula performance during dinner, Larry and Hailey served guests an adorable alternative to wedding cake: a tower of miniature doughnuts!

Looking back, Hailey has this advice for couples planning: “Try not to worry to much about all the details,” she says. “No matter what, you’re marrying your person and that will make it the best day of your life!”
