If you're looking for a country house venue with a modern feel, look no further than Stoke Place in Berkshire, just 30 minutes from London.

Once a family home, this Queen Ann style Manor House retains much of its old school charm but with up to date touches - feature wallpaper and a mix of mid century furniture, modern designer pieces and antiques.

The whole venue can be exclusively hired for your wedding day. There are seven individually designed private rooms to choose from, three of which hold civil ceremony licenses.

The largest space, the ballroom and barn room, will cater for 200 guests for a service and sit down wedding breakfast, and is an ideal blank canvas on which to add personal touches (a neutral décor with lofty beams).

The 40 bedrooms are boutique hotel chic with all the mod cons, and there's a distinct feel that you're at your own private country residence as you stroll through the grounds: 26 acres of stunning gardens (designed by renowned landscape architect Capability Brown), a scenic lake and woodland. The giant chess pieces and croquet set on offer would entertain guests during a summer wedding drinks reception.

Head Chef Craig Van der Mee serves up a menu of contemporary British food with locally sourced ingredients that is second to none, and the restaurant has in fact featured highly in recent Good Food Guides. Top notch catering, dedicated staff (including your own wedding co-ordinator) and a stunning setting make this a venue worth investigating.

Stoke Place's next Wedding Open Day is on Sunday 26th February from 12pm to 3pm. For more information visit www.stokeplace.co.uk
