On Saturday, third in line to the Swedish throne, Carl Philip, and former lingerie model Sofia Hellqvist tied the knot.

The televised ceremony revealed the details of the celebration. Our favourite moment? The prince, 36, blinking back tears as the bride, 30, walked down the aisle to Enya's 'Father in Heaven'.

The adorable moments didn't stop there though! The couple began to giggle as the prince tried to put the ring on the wrong finger, adding a personal touch to the ceremony despite the grand setting and around 550 attendees.

The guest list featured numerous royals, including Princess Takamado of Japan and the House of Windsor's Prince Edward and Sophie Wesse.

The BBC reports that the soundtrack during the ceremony was far from traditional. A band played Coldplay's 'Fix You' before the royal pair was serenaded by a man singing 'Umbrella' by Rihanna - in Swedish!

Fairy tale details abounded, including a horse-drawn carriage and, of course, Sofia's beautiful gown. The custom-made, hand-stitched dress by Swedish designer Ida Sjöstedt, had lace sleeves and three varying shades of white.

The occasion was marked with a 21-gun salute before guests headed to the wedding banquet.

What a send-off! SH

Here at Brides HQ we love a royal wedding. And this weekend sees Prince Carl Philip of Sweden tie the knot to fiancée Sofia Hellqvist, in what's anticipated to be one extravagant affair.

The pair will say "I do" at the palace's royal chapel in Stockholm, and post-ceremony, in keeping with tradition, the newlyweds will be driven around Stockholm in a carriage to greet locals and make their first appearance as a married couple.

Prior to her upcoming nuptials, Sofia spoke to Hello! magazine about becoming a Princess: no matter how much you read up on it, it's hard to compare with real life experience," she said.

On Thursday, the bride-to-be was spotted alongside other members of the Swedish royal family at a wedding rehearsal at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, reports Swedish newspaper Expressen.

When asked by Hello! whether Sofia had attended "Princess school", she responded that she'd definitely brushed up on "knowledge and experience about my future as the wife of a prince."

It's not known who Sofia has chosen to design her wedding dress, Carl Philip's older sister Crown Princess Victoria chose Swedish designer Pär Engsheden, while the prince's younger sister Princess Madeleine opted for a bespoke Valentino gown. We can't wait to see it!

Once wed, the new princess will be known as HRH Princess Sofia, Duchess of Varmland.
