Harley Evans and Susie Barker, of Barker Evans
Harley and Susie have been a couple for over 20 years, and adore capturing the love between two people, whatever their sexuality is. They say: "we don’t like labels – it’s just who you fall in love with. This is what this photographic project, #ProposeWithPride, is all about."
Katie & Sarah
Tooting Bec Lido, London
Susie says: "One of my favourite images from our shoot was taken at the lido. It shows beautiful couple Katie and Sarah holding hands, all dressed up in their wedding whites. Two very curious older ladies jumped out of the pool and came over to us in their dripping swimming costumes to enquire what was going on. When we told them it was a little shoot for Pride, they replied, 'how marvellous!' and didn’t hesitate to join us in the photograph! They were totally cool. Just standing there, silently giving us their support."
Caitlin & Rachel
The Asylum, London
Harley says: "It isn't always during the main shoot that we capture our favourite pictures. Sometimes, when we've just finished on set, and everyone is completely relaxed because the work is done, I get my best shot. For example, I really love the completely candid closeness between Caitlin, Rachel and their dog in this photograph. It's adorable."
Cormac & Steve
East Riddleston Hall, Yorkshire
“If ever there was a wedding to completely immerse, inspire and entertain guests, it was Cormac and Steve’s. A couple whose personalities couldn’t contrast and complement each other more brilliantly, Cormac and Steve are as unique as their sensational wedding day was. For me, the best weddings to photograph are those where you feel the couple’s character run through the day, and this wedding really couldn’t have been more them. Throwing tiresome traditions out the window and putting their own hilarious ones in their place; exuding emotion… Capturing their wedding was like telling the best story I’d ever heard. Love Is love, and their photographs show just that.”

Barry & Chaz
Wasing Park, Berkshire
“I really loved how colourful Barry and Chaz’s wedding was. Though their ceremony also had a very moody light, as they wanted to pay tribute to their favourite books, the Harry Potter series – and also wanted to create an intimate and romantic atmosphere. I remember the ceremony very well, as they were extremely excited!
When they first told me about themselves, this is what they said: ‘We met on a dating website 'Plenty of Fish' and chatted for many months before we met… We then went dancing and were together for the whole bank holiday weekend. Our 2nd date was more memorable, as I ended up staying for a whole week! This was, in fact, because I caught Tonsilitis and was bedridden. Chad was a lovely nurse and looked after me. And the rest is history!’ Barry and Chaz are such a nice couple – and madly in love.”
Jessica & Claudia
“Jessica and Claudia’s big day was beautiful – but it was also one of the rainiest on record, so they weren’t able to get any shots outside! They decided, then, to do a post-wedding shoot in their stunning wedding dresses in their hometown, Brighton, and I was over the moon that they asked me to shoot it for them. Brighton is a wonderfully quirky, colourful and surprising city. And it was great being able to photograph Jessica and Claudia in a wide variety of locations. We covered it all: lush greenery in the park, candy-coloured beach huts, gritty graffiti and crashing waves. It was an amazing day, and they both looked absolutely stunning.
In Celebration Of PRIDE: An Activist's Wedding In Bristol
I adore this couple. It’s immediately clear when spending time with them how strong their connection is. Their love for each other is almost palpable and it was a joy to spend the day with them. This shoot was so much fun!”
