Bryony Toogood, Brides fashion director, has dressed real women of all ages, shapes and sizes. She says:
Everyone has hang-ups about their bodies - so just remember that whatever it is you worry about, there's been a bride before you with the same worry.
Bridal fitters have seen it all but they're generally unfazed and are used to helping and advising nervous brides - so allow them to hold your hand through the process.
If there is something very specific you dislike about your body, then mention it as soon as you arrive at your dress appointment but be open to what silhouettes could work for you. For example, show off your hourglass figure in a fishtail gown, or a sleeveless sheath dress is perfect for a more athletic shape. You'll be surprised at how different you look compared to in a pair of jeans.
Make the most of the assets you have. Love your legs? Shorter styles may not be the norm but can look so chic. Worked hard on toning your upper arms? Flaunt them in a strapless style.
And if possible, don't take too many people with you - too many cooks and all that… Instead, choose someone whose opinion you value who will help you look and feel most beautiful on your big day.
