Vivienne Westwood presented her latest bridal collection at The Luxury Wedding Show London this weekend. Rich in Westwood's signature corsetry, draping and drama, the collection comprised of traditional white and ivory dresses as well as more unusual coloured gowns. From huge tulle petticoats to chic column dresses there is something for every type of bride, be they extrovert or understated. For those who fancy injecting a bit of colour into their big day there is surely no better designer to go to than Westwood. The aptly-named Princess Dress is formed of layers of silk organza with a shimmering coral bodice while the Beauty Queen Dress is made in sumptuous gold moiré and features delicately embroidered floral detail. For the more traditional bride the collection offers classic shapes, each with a Westwood twist. The Capon Dress is reminiscent of Carrie Bradshaw's now-infamous wedding gown, formed in luxurious white duchess satin with a large tulle petticoat beneath swathes of ruched satin. The Ball Tie dress illustrates Westwood's ability to do delicacy as well as statement, featuring flattering draping at the bust leading into a long, slim column skirt overlaid with lace and an elegant train, while the Cinderella Dress perfectly illustrates the character it is named after with grosgrain corset and full silk jacquard skirt. However, it is the pillar-box red Paperbag Frill Dress that steals the show. Typifying the Dame's punky, outrageous style, layer upon layer of tulle complete with matching embroidered veil make for a statement gown fit for the bravest of brides. Each gown is made-to-measure and handcrafted at Westwood's couture flagship store in London.
