Rachel Ruiz, 31, an advertising manager, and her TV producer husband, Federico, 32, decided to blow their budget, and turn their honeymoon into a super-luxurious maxi-moon. Here's the lowdown (we're not envious at all)…

"This beachy haven is sublime. A private patch of paradise, there are no other resorts or packed-out hotels to rain on your desert-island fantasies. No wonder Fijian royalty have been known to holiday on this pocket-sized isle. Our villa was a lazy step from the beach, and we were welcomed into our home for the next few days by a basket of Fiji's finest exotic fruit and flowers. For a real Robinson Crusoe experience, arrange an expedition to the authentic deserted island, Vomo Lailai, or 'Little Vomo', which is quietly tucked away, just off the western shore. The staff will arrange a honeymoon picnic for you - think a mouth-watering food hamper à deux, and a two-way radio for when you feel like heading back. As a delightful end to our stay, we enjoyed a seasonal turtle-releasing ceremony, returning young-adult Hawksbills to the wild from the resort's turtle protection programme nursery. Magical."

WOW FACTOR The 15-minute helicopter ride from Fiji's main airport, Nadi, to the resort. The views are astounding - if you're brave enough to open your eyes, that is.
