Louis Diame is married to one of the biggest multi-hyphenates in Hollywood, with wife Issa Rae boasting credits as an actress, writer, producer, director, web series creator, and author, to name a few. And yet, in a world of prying eyes, Issa Rae’s husband has managed to do the near-impossible, not only staying largely out of public view (sans the rare red carpet appearance), but going all but undetectable on social media as well.

With the Seen & Heard producer’s own pages offering little more information, it’s unknown exactly how the two met or exactly how long they’ve been together. There are those that believe that their fateful run-in may have occurred while filming a shared episode of her original web series, The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl.

However, here’s what we do know about Issa Rae's husband, Louis Diame.

He's in his late 30s.

With estimates for Louis' birth year falling between 1983 and 1984, the Insecure alum's spouse is likely in his late 30s.

He's been with Issa for a decade—or more.

While we can't pinpoint the exact year these two met, his earliest mention appears to come from a Washington Post article in 2012 that refers to him as her "boyfriend." For those doing the math, that means 2022 would mark at least a decade spent together—or potentially longer. After all, as Issa's brother, Lamine Diop, told Us Weekly in 2019, “They’ve been dating forever."

He's a banker.

According to Essence, Louis was revealed to be an international banker living in Los Angeles through a now-deleted LinkedIn page.

He’s Senegalese.

If the internet is to be believed, Louis was born in Dakar, Senegal—a city in West Africa that Issa also has roots in. Not only is her dad, Abdoulaye Diop, from the capital city, but the best-selling author also revealed that she had spent time there herself in an essay titled American Like Me: Reflections on Life Between Cultures.  "I grew up visiting Senegal and even lived there for a short period of time as a very young child," she wrote.

He appears in an episode of her web series.

Look closely in season one, episode seven of The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl, and you just might catch Louis shooting his future bride a disapproving look when she steps out for her first "white date" circa the four-minute mark.

He's not big on social media.

Where Garth Brooks wasn't big on social graces, Louis isn't big on social media, forgoing Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and even LinkedIn—at least that we can find.

He and Issa are extremely private.

There’s a reason that Louis works so hard to keep their life together under wraps, and it’s likely because he’s aligned with his spouse when it comes to keeping something just for them. "There's something really nice to have a piece of me that no one knows about or no one can talk about except for the people that are part of my life," Issa recently explained to Harper’s Bazaar. She added: "Self-care has been having a private piece that's just for me."

Despite his penchant for being low-key, Louis made sure he was by his woman's side when Issa was honored at Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood Awards in 2017.

He’s in tight with her family.

According to Issa’s brother, Lamine, Louis was a member of the Rae crew long before the pair ever tied the knot. "He’s just a good guy, man. He’s just a cool guy," Lamine told Us Weekly in 2019. "He’s already been like a brother to me. Family ties at all the family events and dinners, Christmas, Thanksgiving."

He can keep a secret.

The world was stunned in July of last year when Issa dropped the bomb that the couple had exchanged vows in the French Riviera. The news came two years after she sparked engagement rumors with a certain sparkly bauble on the cover of Essence, and a full year after the twosome had originally planned to wed. "You know, honestly, I was supposed to do this in 2020. And then, you know, things were different at that time," Issa explained to Tamron Hall in October.

When their big day finally came, the six-time Emmy nominee joked about their newlywed status, writing in an Instagram caption, "A) Impromptu photo shoot in a custom @verawang dress. B) My girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress! They were sooooo embarrassed. C) Then I took a few flicks with Somebody’s Husband."
