Marviana De Souza, 27, married Abayomi Kesinro, 29, at Froyle Park in Alton, Hampshire, on 2nd October 2016. She says:
We wanted our big day to be simple and elegant, with a little glitz. We kept our décor simple, as the venue is lovely and doesn't need much added to it. In terms of glittery elements, my bridesmaids' dresses from Goddiva online were one of the highlights! But, at the end of the day, the most important thing was just celebrating our love with friends and family.
We visited Froyle Park on a cold and rainy day in February and the venue still looked so beautiful. Marble floors, crystal chandeliers, countryside views... What’s not to love? The venue comes with overnight accommodation meaning we could continue to spend time with our guests in the rooms provided both that night and the following day. They also provided an annex for my bridal party the day before, which was great because we didn't feel we had to rush anything in the morning as we were already there!
Our florists, Bloom in Clares, were fantastic at helping bring our vision to life. We gave them examples of what we wanted the floral arrangements to look like and they came up with fabulous ideas, all while sticking our budget. We wanted colours that matched the theme of our wedding – whites and pale pinks.
The hardest thing we found to source was a good catering company that supplied good-quality African and Caribbean food. In the end we hired one that was recommended by a friend, Burrell Catering. Our resulting menu was the perfect blend of the two cuisines, with a splash of British classics thrown in. We served a plantain and chickpea curry, rice and peas, Jamaican escovitch fish, an assorted meat stew and fish jollof rice. In the evening, we also had curried goat, fish and chips, jerk chicken and lots more. Our catering company was probably the best supplier we had. It's easy to think that all they do is serve food, but ours took care of so much more. They set up the tables very nicely and the owners were always there to ensure everything was being done professionally and efficiently.
I chose my Maggie Sottero dress because it suited my figure perfectly. It hugged my body in all the right places, complimenting my curves. The embellishment on its hem and train were just the right amount of detail for me. I also loved the way it sparkled under the lights when I first tried it on. What's funny is that I bought it from Klienfeld in Manhattan – where the original TV programme Say Yes to the Dress is filmed!
