A Lush Garden Wedding in Texas Hill Country

Sundays are some of Elizabeth Lawrie and Joseph Rambin’s favorite times together, as that's when they get out to their favorite park with their dog. On one such Sunday, in October of 2016, Joe had bigger plans than just playing with their pooch. “As we got to the lake, Joe got down on one knee," she recalls. "I was completely surprised!” That evening, they headed to the restaurant where they’d first said “I love you” to celebrate, and found their families waiting for them there.

Elizabeth and Joe both love Texas Hill Country and specifically adore the privacy (and the golf course!) at Escondido Golf and Lake Club. “We wanted an outdoor wedding that was lush and formal, but still welcoming,” Elizabeth says. Because the bride was still in law school at the time, the couple turned to Pearl Events Austin to help them put together the day's details. “Megan was always there when I needed her,” says Elizabeth of her wedding planner.

On March 10, 2018, the couple invited 160 guests to join them in Austin, where they used lots of flowers and a neutral palette to complement the natural beauty of their venue. “I loved so many different styles, narrowing down our aesthetic was a challenge,” admits the bride. But the gorgeous results were worth the effort, and Dana Fernandez Photography was on hand to capture all the stunning details. Take a peek, below!

Elizabeth and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready and enjoying the Texas sunshine. The bride gifted her ’maids—including Joe's sister, actress Leven Rambin—matching floral print pajamas to lounge in.

Papellerie created a gold and white invitation suite accented with fresh florals and vellum details to match the couple’s overall wedding design. Even the drink koozies and cocktail napkins (complete with an illustration of Joe and Elizabeth’s dog, Melo!) fit the theme.

The bride wore a lace Monique Lhuillier gown with a soft train, pairing it with block-heeled Salvatore Ferragamo sandals for the outdoor ceremony. Her bridesmaids all wore blush dresses from Bella Bridesmaids.

Elizabeth and her ’maids carried lush rose and peony bouquets in shades of white and pink.

Before the ceremony, Elizabeth and Joe privately exchanged love letters in the club’s Spanish-style courtyard.

A lush arch of birch trees, roses, and peonies framed the view of the nearby golf course. Punchy shades of pink brightened up the early spring afternoon.

A string quartet played “A Thousand Years” as Elizabeth walked down the aisle with her dad. Melo was there for the engagement, so of course, the pooch made an appearance during the ceremony too!

The bride’s father is a heart surgeon, and the family became incredibly close to one of his patients. “We asked that friend to serve as our officiant,” says the bride.

The reception was set in a clear-top tent, dressed up with a boxwood hedge wall behind the band and a lush floral chandelier over the dance floor. Bare wooden tables were topped with soft pink runners and lush displays of roses and eucalyptus, while nearby rounds had towering arrangements of bright blooms and branches.

Guests spent the entire night on the dance floor as the couple’s favorite band from Austin, the Nightowls, took to the stage.

Looking back on their big day, Elizabeth had this piece of advice: “Cherish every moment of the process, including the planning,” she says. “It is such a special time in your relationship, and it will be over in the blink of an eye!”
