Jesus Peiro's 2018 collection, Metropolis, takes its inspiration from the Art Deco years. Crazy jazz blared and projections of 1920s New York swept across the screen, setting a scene reminiscent of The Great Gatsby as the show opened. Much like New York's impressive buildings, these dresses have been constructed from the inside out; a strong structure, but a graceful lightness. Lattice work, inspired by wrought iron gates, and lace roses, inspired by wallpaper, covered the dresses like delicate tattoos. Layers of Chantilly lace, soft organza, satin, Mikado and soft tulle added to a ‘full spectrum’ fabric feel. Playful ruffles and fringes adorned many of the dresses, with dashes of gold, brass and pink popping – complimented by the dazzling gold earrings and headpieces, the Art Deco vibe was complete.
