The most expensive wedding in the world? Said Gutseriev’s 2016 wedding to Khadija Uzhakhova. The groom is the son of Russian billionaire and oil tycoon Mikhail Gutseriev, who according to Forbes has a net worth of around £4.3 billion, so we’re sure he didn’t bat an eyelid when footing the mind-blowing £800 million bill of his son’s nuptials. A total of 600 guests were chauffeured in flash vehicles, including several Rolls Royces, to the Safisa, a luxurious banquet hall. The bride wore a bespoke Elie Saab gown, swathed in glittering jewels and followed by a billowing train that weighed a whopping 28 pounds and worth a speculated £700,000. An enormous nine-tiered wedding cake, covered in layers of white and pink flowers, sat proudly for guests to gasp at, and each attendee was gifted with what must be the most luxurious wedding favour we’ve ever seen – a (real) gold trinket box engraved with the couple’s names and date of the wedding. The lavish celebrations were topped with performances from pop legends Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias and Sting, plus an elaborate fireworks display. As if that all wasn’t enough, the couple reportedly continued their celebrations in London, surrounded by close friends and family, with performances from global superstars Beyoncé and Sir Elton John.
