New York-based designer Naeem Khan is best known for his ready-to-wear collections, but with his fashion-forward edge, the detail and flamboyance of his bridal collection makes the gowns truly irresistible.
Even from the very first exit, a mini sleeveless dress with thigh-high lace boots, it was clear the collection was going to be a memorable one. Shapes were pared back for Khan, with a tendency towards column silhouettes, and a real focus on texture – from chevron beading to tiered 20s-style tassles.
Some gowns, such as the long sleeved white gown with fur cuffs, were given an interesting edge with one small detail, whilst others (the finale canary yellow gowns, we’re talking about you) were given a complete overhaul with ruching, 3D embellishment and applique.
But the real stand out gowns were those with a masculine touch of high-neck collars and chest slits, decorated with an abundance of embroidery and 3D applique.
