Catherine Worboys, 29, married Daniel Senda, 33, at Le Château Grimaldi in Aix-en-Provence, France on 20th September 2014. She says:
Dan proposed while we were on holiday in Île Sainte-Marguerite, about half a mile offshore from Cannes. We immediately decided France would be the perfect place for our wedding.
One of the first things we decided on was the château. For us, it was the ideal place - a gorgeous rural setting, beautiful weather and the kind of golden light that you can only get in France.
We were really keen to incorporate French traditions into our ceremony. Dan's mum walked him down the aisle, and we sipped champagne from a glass we plan to keep to mark anniversaries.
We held our cocktail reception overlooking the Montagne Sainte-Victoire (the mountains Cézanne loved to paint). We tried to make the most of all the different areas around the château - we even turned the medieval chapel into a nightclub with a bar and sofa area.
I made welcome bags for guests that doubled up as favours - with local olive oil, chocolates and lavender-scented candles to reflect the Provence region.
My top tip: If you're getting married abroad make sure you create a separate budget for the flights and hotels prior to your big day - it's easy to forget!
