High above the bustling city, we headed to the penthouse of the Rockefeller plaza on the 33rd floor for Romona Keveza's Fall 2016 presentation.
With chic, cool light interiors and orchids aplenty, Romona presented her Legends collections first. First up was a show-stopping garden lace ball gown in Romona Red and a corset bodice with teenie weenie buttons and super skinny spaghetti straps. Once detaching the dramatic skirt, the gown becomes a sexy cocktail sheath.
These convertible gowns, designed to take brides from ceremony to reception, were the stars of the show. Shimmering details were again a key detail in the collection scattered liberally over lace, while re-embroidered floral and leaf appliqués on illusion bodices were stand out features. The fashionista, the goddess, the modernist and the aristocrat were the four muses for Keveza's main Luxe collection - opening with a stunning Tuscan garden silk Mikado blue strapless ball gown in a hydrangea print, shown with an oversized bouquet to match, followed by the short one shouldered cocktail version. Colour was a key feature in the collection with a pleated skirt ball gown of deep lilac florals and beetroot print - again echoed in an unusual bouquet of flowers and said vegetable!
THE LATEST FROM NEW YORK BRIDAL WEEK The goddess influence opened with a soft pink draped silk charmeuse one shoulder classic Romona red carpet shape and flowing chiffon gowns with tiny waists and softly pleated bodices- attention to detail is key to Romona's collection from tiny crystal buttons to the thinnest spaghetti straps and delicately beaded belts. The modernist was all about sleek lines in silk crepe softened by an organza Calla lily-inspired over skirt and asymmetric metal belt. The aristocrat was more formal - Chantilly lace in a delicate champagne colour with intricate pearl beading, a strapless Mikado ball gown and the finale a long sleeved illusion ballgown of crystal lace with rhinestone buttons and matching chapel length veil - perfect for the Park Avenue princess.
