Cheval Blanc, St-Barth Isle De France, St Barths, Caribbean
The place to go on beautiful St Barths for decades, Cheval Blanc snapped it up in 2015 and have weaved in, with finesse, the extra touches that define it – bespoke scents created by Guerlain’s nose Thierry Wasser (in this case a fresh ocean breeze named ‘Tropical Chic’), shampoos by Leonor Greyl, modern art on the walls and a new Spa by Guerlain – while leaving intact the essence of this much-loved hotel. Forty rooms, villas and suites are dotted around the tropically lush garden, where tortoises and peacocks roam. Interiors are colonial in feel, with lots of white, and an atmosphere that invites you to kick off your heels and settle in. Do so in the beachfront La Cabane de L’Isle, where you can dig your toes in the sand and savour the mahi-mahi. This place feels fun, young – and carefree.
Why November? It’s the end of the wet season when the sun comes out in full force, but before the beaches begin to get super crowded come December.
