Every bride wants—and deserves—to be showered with compliments on their wedding day. Bride compliments can focus on everything from the couple to the reception, the wedding dress to the tiniest details that really stood out. This day was a serious labor of love and every bride wants to bask in the glow of their wedding.

As a guest (and someone who loves the bride), you just might get choked up, tongue-tied, and find yourself scrambling for the right words to say. If you start faltering, know that you can’t go wrong with these bridal compliments.

Here’s how to tell a bride she is stunning, special, found the perfect partner, and threw one heck of a wedding!

1. You look beautiful.

First and foremost, every bride wants to hear that they are so ravishing, magical, glamorous, and stunning it makes you want to cry. Getting ready for this day was a marathon that likely involved ample planning, endless dreaming of how to do hair and makeup, and more stress than anyone bargained for, so readily acknowledge the gorgeous bride. Compliments on captivating hair, a beautiful face, and being a breathtaking vision will stick long after the wedding.

While all compliments are fair game in this department, it's kindest to keep your statements focused on the bride, not the accouterments. For example, "Your eyes are gorgeous," is better than, "Wow your fake eyelashes look so subtle!"

2. Your dress is perfect.

Finding a dress that flatters your body, evokes your style, and suits the venue is not a walk in the park. Reward all that hard work with a good, hearty, genuine compliment about how that gown could not be more perfect. Whether it’s the beading, the silhouette, the fabric, or some other lovely detail, you can’t go wrong if you gush about how stunning the wedding dress is.

3. I can't believe how stunning these flowers are...

There is no better feeling for a bride than having a guest notice—and love—the reception details they labored over. Whether it's a perfectly arranged bouquet or a creative table assignment, call out the little things that caught your eye.

4. You two are made for each other.

On a day that's all about their commitment to one another, don't forget to acknowledge and admire the newlyweds' relationship. To avoid cliché, call out elements specific to them as a couple, such as, "Ben brings out that belly laugh of yours better than anyone else I know," or "I knew she was smitten when she voluntarily went to mini-golf ... in high heels."

5. I'm having such an incredible time, thank you!

In the end, a couple wants to know that their guests enjoyed themselves, so any compliment centered around how much fun you're having, how insanely awesome their dance floor is, or how delicious things are tasting, is appreciated.

6. The ceremony was so meaningful.

Don't let the reception overshadow the ceremony. The ceremony is another aspect of the wedding that the couple put a lot of work and thought into crafting. If it touched you, let them know. They'll be happy to hear it.

7. Whatever’s in your heart.

You can never go wrong with a heartfelt compliment. It doesn’t even have to be about the wedding specifically—maybe you want to tell the bride how special they are to you, or how good a friend they've been. On a day that’s all about love, this is your chance to say whatever’s in your heart!
