Owning 'a slice of history' has never been said so literally... but the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding cake goes under the hammer this week, allowing fans of the royal two to treasure this regal memorabilia.
This is the first ever slice of cake from the Royal couple's wedding to go on auction, and is expected to fetch quite a payment by the end of the auction, due to finish on 24 May.
Originally designed by Fiona Cairnes, the royal fruit cake was given to the 650 afternoon reception guests at Buckingham Palace last April. The cake slice is said to have been supplied to online auction house PFC Auctions by an anonymous seller, who will not doubt have been at the reception last year.
On offer in its original presentation, the cake comes perfectly preserved in its specially commissioned tin, accompanied by a printed compliments slip from Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.
The cake has already attracted over £1,450 bids so far, but we expect it the sale price to reach dizzying heights.
