And, as if to confirm the trend, it's been reported today that a rare orange diamond has been sold at auction in Geneva for a whopping £22million!

The 14.82-carat, pear-shaped vivid orange diamond is being touted as one of the rarest orange diamonds in the world, and, according to François Curiel, international head of Christie's jewellery department, its £1.5million per carat price tag puts it "amongst the greatest pinks and blues, which are traditionally the most appreciated coloured diamonds."
