Charlie Brear made her name (quite literally) when she became the queen of vintage bridal realm with The Vintage Wedding Dress Company. Her eye for exquisite design, ability to source genuine pieces and restore them to glory made her the go-to-designer for those in search of a vintage design.
The VWDC has been re-branded as Charlie enters the world of ready-to-wear, but rest assured brides-to-be, that her bridal creations remain as dreamy as ever…
The London-based designer shared her collection imagery exclusively with BridesMagazine.co.uk for a first look at what she has in store. (And yes, you have permission to swoon…)
The 2014 collection takes Charlie's contemporary approach to bridal, a touch of vintage and swathes of fashion know-how for an amusing collection of playful (and sometimes surprising) components.
Silhouettes inspired by a love of the most revolutionary decades and an antique inspired colour palette of ivories, champagne and off-whites. Beading and sequins add texture to the sandwashed silk, satinised organza and floral appliquéd lace, although ostrich feathers, leather and tassles add an interesting twist.
Above all else, it is a whimsical collection of separates which invites brides to create a look of their own by way of under- and over-skirts, tailored jackets, lace and feather capes, ethereal and structured sleeves, waist-sculpting belts and silk sashes.
