I'm about to start working on a big BEST OF BRIDAL BEAUTY feature, and I need your help!
My job as a beauty editor isn't just to deliver the news on all the latest products, but to test, select and recommend the items that will be invaluable to you in the run up to your wedding. If a mascara lands on my desk, I put it through rain and tears (and a snowstorm recently!); for new foundations, I check how they look in flash photography, the ease of application, range of colours and longevity - the works. As for skincare, I have a team of guinea pigs (from friends to family and work colleagues) who try out lotions and potions not just for a day, but for a four-week stretch to see if it really does what it says on the tin. Budget is a big deal to me: when you're planning your wedding you can't risk spending your precious pennies on something that won't perform. Of course, many products are subjective - take fragrance: one girl's fruity floral is another girl's toilet cleaner - so all we ask is that you trust our judgement and test these products out on the beauty counter for yourselves.
The thing is, we can all be biased. Personally, I don't like powdery foundation. I don't want to smell like a flower shop. Glittery body lotions make me cringe. I really can't stand French manicures. But I'm all too aware those items might be your dream must-haves. So this is where I need your help. In my BEST OF BRIDAL BEAUTY feature, I'll be including your favourite products too - those essentials items that you simply can't get married without. It could be anything, from an anti-shine powder to the perfect eye pencil, a great cheek stain or brightening eye cream - because something very special can slip through my net.
A few months ago I started a thread in our Chatroom make-up section called 'The Essential Item' (over 2,000 of you have visited that page!) so you can add your favourite product to that discussion or simply write in the comment box below and tell me why your nomination is so brilliant.
Thanks in advance - I can't wait to see your suggestions!

Hi there, I would like to reccomend St. Kitts Herbery's Rosemary & Bergamot body products. They are based in Camelford, Cornwall very near Trebarwith Strand where I got married in September. I had a bath first thing in the morning and the scent was so calming and the body lotion kept me nerve free all day. The best thing about it is that whenever I use the products now it takes me right back to our special day.
Hi Alice, My wedding day essentials were Touche Eclat - can't live without it. I had a makeup artist who smothered me in a horrible foundation - hated it so wiped it all off and used my normal Estee Lauder Individualist. And eye make-up by Mac - I still use their Vapour shadow as my base eye shadow today. And Benefit's cheek stain - which I also still use. And because I am paranoid about wrinkles I was smothered in Freeze 24/7 - bought at SpaceNK. Thought it was brilliant.
Hello Alice, My best friend is getting married next month and she often has break outs especially when she is stressed.I suggested the amazing Amanda Lacey Miracle Tonic which you dab on the T-zone or anywhere you feel a spot is coming. It literally zaps a spot over night and she tells me it has been the most incredible product she has ever had and can't go anywhere without it. Check out www.amandalacey.com for her other products too as I am a fan of her Incredible Pink Serum which is like botox in a jar.
Hi my ultimate beauty product has got to be my Clinique stay matte facial powder, it keeps me going all day! It will definitley be a must for the big day!
Prescriptives Magic Powder is a miracle worker... it's really finely milled, and is actually made with 70% water. Tiny light reflecting orbs are finely milled into the powder, creating a pearlized, opal-like glow- I don't mean sparkly, tacky looking skin- I mean a real wake-up in a pot. Without fail, every time I use it, I am told how amazing my skin looks. Also, old school Oil Of Olay Beauty Fluid- the pink one. My mum used it, and now my sisters and I are disciples. I've tried lots of different, much more expensive day creams, but nothing else keeps my skin as moisturised and clear of breakouts.
Any YSL Mascara - I've really fair hair and it instantly changes my face. If ive got a tan i can get away with wearing mascara only!
its true cosmetics are very important for brides during weddings so using high standards beauty products is very important. keep it up!!!
I can't live without Guerlain's Issima Precious Light Smoothing Illuminator and Estee Lauder's Smoothing Creme Concealer
I always wear Chanel nail polishes - especially their pretty pastel shades (which are all coming with me on honeymoon!)
I love painting my nails so have tried lots and lots of nail varnishes out. Loreal 'Resist and Shine' is by far the best!! It lasts for 7 days without chipping!! Perfect for honeymoon!
Aveda haircare is incredible. I've got really fine hair so I have to be careful what I use and everything in their range is light and gentle. I also really love that TangleTeezer brush - OMG I've never used anything like it!!!!! It literally smooths out hair without any tugging, especially when its wet washing. And can't live without Lancome mascaras, they are brill!
I've got oily combination skin and I've been using Dr Brandt Pores No More Mattifying Lotion morning and night, and it's really working! It is has a fresh smell and a soft texture about it. My skin feels slightly tighter (I think this could be down to the shrinking of the pores which is great). Most importantly I have felt that there is less shine on my skin (T zone particularly) later on in the day when usually this does start to build up and I have to apply another layer of make-up. Also as I have sensitive eyes many moisturisers sting when applied near the eye area, this is most common if they are fragrant however I have had no problems with this.
I had a make-up practice session with Cosmetics a la Carte before my wedding and they recommended several products I'm still using. Their lip gloss comes in lots of subtle colours. The sheer tint foundation they chose for me looked so natural and they showed me how to apply it with a foundation brush.
