Still on an engagement high? Once you come back to earth, it's time to start planning.
We've thought of everything so you don't have to - from settings the date to choosing venues, budgeting tips and the running order. First things first...
When To Wed
Would you like to marry in the sunshine, or is a winter wedding more your style? Bear in mind that some dates in late spring and early summer, and Valentines' day, can be booked years in advance, so be prepared for a very long engagement if you want one of those dates! Winter tends to be less popular, so you will have a much broader pick of venues, dates and suppliers.
Where To Marry
Once you've chosen your venue and signed on the dotted line, you've set your date. Draw up a rough guest list so you know how many people you want to accommodate. You should book the venues for your ceremony and receptions at the same time to ensure both are available on your chosen date. Your ceremony will be dictated by the type of service you want - civil or religious. Many venues insist on preferred suppliers, so getting this settled early on will give you an idea of the other things you need to budget for.
How To Do It
There's a number of options on how to actually exchange vows. Civil ceremonies, Church of England, Roman Catholic, Jewish and Humanist ceremonies are all very popular in the UK. Click here to find out more.
