Brides Assistant editor Harriet Chubb, 30, married Jamie Jones, 32, at Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor, followed by a reception at Oxenford Farm in Surrey on 27th August 2016. She says:

Getting the opportunity to marry in the Royal Chapel in Windsor Great Park was very special for both of our families - my brother sings in the choir and Jamie's dad used to be a chef to the Queen.

My lace Jenny Packham dress was perfect for our boho-style day. I had a second dress for the evening, which I got from Brides' sample sale - a bargain at £75.

For our reception, we wanted a laidback festival vibe. We hired a family friend's farm in Surrey, pitched a Sperry tent, had a barbecue and even created a glamping village so guests could stay over.

In the morning, we served bacon sandwiches and orange juice - they went down a treat. We tried to keep everything as cost effective as possible, and I was lucky to have so much help from friends and family.

My godmother created the jam jar flower arrangements for our reception tables, my bridesmaids' mothers helped with all the decor and stationery, and my brother's band played in the evening.

I ended up making a speech. It gave me a chance to thank all the amazing women in my life. My advice? If the thought has ever crossed your mind, then go for it!

My top tip: Don't worry about having a cash bar. As long as you provide some welcome drinks and wine with dinner, it's a perfectly acceptable thing to ask of guests.
