'I'm quite creative and love organising,' says Gemma Dossetter. For her wedding to property developer Charlie New, 29, the 26-year-old marketing assistant went for the personal touch - from converting a barn at Charlie's father's house to hand-painting signs dotted round the farm and making bunting from vintage fabric. 'I found ideas everywhere, from bridal magazines and websites to blogs featuring American weddings. I love the fresh West Coast look that many of them had, so I tried to recreate that in our barn.'
The service was held at nearby St Laurence Church, before Gemma and Charlie took a horse and trap back across the fields to the reception. 'Everyone laughed at how fast the horse whizzed off, but it meant we got back to the house first and could have some precious time, just the two of us. Then walking into the barn for the first time with everything in place and all our friends and family there, we knew all the time and attention to detail had been worthwhile.'
