Merale Tourbah, 36 married Izzat el Rabbat, 42, in Greece, in August 2012. She says:
"We got married abroad as we wanted a celebration with just our family and close friends. It felt more like a holiday as we had time to relax with our guests and have a big party!
We visited Santorini twice before the wedding. The first time we rented a motorbike and drove around the island to scout out possible locations.
We chose the venue because of the breathtaking view. We kept the colour palette white so as not to detract from it.
Guests were welcomed to the 7pm ceremony with a drinks reception. We served a choice of three champagne cocktails while a band played. I made my entrance just as the sun was setting.
We had a symbolic ceremony where my father 'handed' me to my new husband. Prior to the wedding, we had a separate religious ceremony at home where I just wore an evening dress.
The decorations were difficult to source as Santorini is a tiny island; I transported 60 glass globes in my suitcase!
My top tip: Hire a wedding planner to take care of your guests. Stella & Moscha not only assisted with travel and accommodation, but helped with visa applications and even provided a concierge service to arrange hair appointments and babysitters."
